facebook was born in 2004 as a moderately private online place for boston area college students to post drunken photos of themselves and share their ever-changing favorite quotes, movies, tv shows, and music among friends. the site has since become something of a phenomenon while the internet simultaneously morphs into an over-saturated series of social networks joined by individuals who seem to be willing to post anything and everything without showing much concern for those on the receiving end of their impulsive sharing.
